Detailed Information

Children’s Dyslexia Center of Southeastern Michigan provides support to dyslexic students and their families. Dyslexia is the most frequent type of learning disability and affects 20% of the population.  The center is a 501c3 organization and is completely funded through private donations.   The mission is to provide no cost reading intervention to dyslexic students, to train Orton Gillingham tutors and to raise awareness of dyslexia and serve as a resource for information on dyslexia.

The center provides one-on-one tutoring based on the Orton Gillingham approach, a proven method for effectively teaching dyslexic students to read and something not available in area schools.  The two year program provides life-long benefits because as students learn to read, they learn how they learn best and are able to work to their potential.
