The Farmer and Artisan Market in Dearborn, hosted by the Dearborn Chamber of Commerce, features over 35 vendors on site until Friday, October 29, 2010. The market operates Fridays from 8 am – 1 pm each Friday in the lot behind Bryant Library at the corner of Mason and Michigan Avenue in West Dearborn. The event is sponsored by Henry Ford Community College (HFCC) and Oakwood Healthcare System.
“We knew the emphasis to buy locally grown produce would make this market the success that it has become. Attendance so far has averaged 1,200 patrons each week,” said Dearborn Chamber Market Manager Joan Reed. “Visitors appreciate the great pricing and organic content of the market this year. There is also ease of parking and the proximity to local shops and restaurants.”
Produce at the peak of freshness in September and October include beans, a variety of lettuces and herbs, pears, apples, squash including pumpkins as well as broccoli, onions, watermelon and much more. Music and children’s activities, plus cooking demonstrations by HFCC Culinary Arts program and local restaurants are part of the fun.
The Dearborn Chamber of Commerce works to promote the best interests of over 600 member businesses by helping them connect with prospective customers, promote products and services, succeed in business through increasing sales and saving money, and to become a leader in the Dearborn community.
