Last week I was invited to attend a roundtable discussion with Congressman John Dingell on issues facing our veterans. Representatives from the business community, veterans and representatives from various service organizations were in attendance addressing questions including: What barriers are you seeing veterans face upon reentry to civilian life? How can our communities welcome our warriors back to the US? What can we be doing better to provide for our veterans? I was honored to be a part of the discussion and I applaud the Congressman for gathering these individuals to have this timely and critical conversation. The biggest task ahead is making sure we are connecting the veterans with the vast number of services available. In the meantime, the Dearborn Chamber of Commerce is proud to partner with the US Chamber of Commerce in hosting Hiring Our Heroes, a nationwide effort to help veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment. The hiring fair will take place in Dearborn this April. Corporations interested in participating in the hiring fair or The Returning Heroes Tax Credit or The Wounded Warriors Tax Credit should call the Dearborn Chamber of Commerce at (313) 584-6100.
