Over the past 6 years, Neighbors United has been hosting fundraising events across Michigan to support firefighters battling cancer. October 1st is the start of our fundraising efforts for the year and we ALREADY HAVE 4 FIREFIGHTERS WE ARE SUPPORTING. It is essential that we start off with a bang! Last year’s inaugural walk here in Dearborn was a huge success raising awareness and funds for Michigan firefighters who are fighting this horrible disease affecting our profession. With cancer now being recognized as one of the leading causes of deaths among firefighters, we need this year’s walk to be BIGGER and BETTER!!
The BC Boyer Walk for the Red is a family-friendly event with a Halloween theme. Friends, Families and all children are encouraged to dress in costume for this occasion and enjoy a walk around Crowley Park collecting candy. Refreshments will be available for registered participants, including hotdogs, chips and bottled water.
Whether you choose to dress up or not, we welcome everyone to join us in raising money and awareness about this horrible disease affecting firefighters. 100% of all money raised goes directly to these Michigan firefighters or their families if firefighters have passed.
Here are some Neighbors United numbers from the past:
From September 2021-September 2022: 26 firefighters supported
From September 2022-September 2023: 59 firefighters supported
From September 2023-September 2024: 76 firefighters supported
